TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (July 8, 2024) — Residents of a subdivision here continue to suffer as uncollected garbage and insufficient water supply issues remain unsolved.
In what used to be a thriving community of lower-middle-income families, the subdivision is now beset with garbage spilling onto the road as the city government implemented a new garbage collection scheme two months ago leading to some residents leaving the place.
“Natatakot kami na baka magkasakit ang aming mga anak dahil sa mga nagkalat na basura na hindi na kinokolekta ng mga basurero ng city,” said a resident who declined to be identified as black garbage pile up in front of his residence.
According to the Fiesta Communities San Rafael management, the new garbage collection scheme was initiated by the Tarlac City Environment and Natural Resources Office after they required the subdivision to have its own Materials Recovery Facility.
“Mayor Cristy Angeles, ano na?” asked a senior citizen who was dropping off his garbage using his car.
Last Friday, a handful of homeowners staged a rally in front of Fiesta Communities San Rafael as they decried the inaction of Hausland Development Corporation to find a solution to their woes.
The residents also complained about the lack of sufficient water supply in the subdivision which got worse after the water supplier changed hands from PrimeWater to Villages Water.
“Napupuyat kaming mga residente dahil hinihintay naming magkatubig na madalas at 2:30am kung dumating,” another resident said.
“Ano pong balak ng management (Villages Water) sa paparating na pasukan ng mga bata? Ganito pa rin po ba supply ng tubig? May plan na po ba regarding dito,” posted a Jonathan Galang on Facebook.
