TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (April 28, 2026) — In a continued effort to boost the local agricultural sector, the Tarlac City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Susan Yap and acting City Agriculturist Mr. Ronald Allan Reyes, has empowered nearly 70 livestock raisers through the 13th batch of the Farmers’ Livestock School on Goat Enterprise Management (FLS-GEM), held on April 23, 2026.
The training, which gathered an estimated 70 participants eager to enhance their knowledge of goat and sheep production, focused heavily on “Improving Breeding Management”—a critical component for genetic improvement and herd buildup.
Resource speakers highlighted the importance of proper selection of breeder goats and sheep, effective breeding systems, and appropriate animal care. These methods, according to agricultural experts, are essential steps toward higher-quality livestock output, increased production, and ultimately, more sustainable income for local farmers.
The FLS-GEM is a 28-week training program originally developed by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA). The program is designed to strengthen farmers’ competencies in livestock enterprise management.
Through initiatives like this, the Tarlac City Government continues to provide education and livelihood opportunities for its farmers—solid steps toward a more progressive, productive, and resilient agricultural community.
“Sa Tarlac City, ang pag-unlad ng agrikultura ay kaakibat ng pag-asenso ng bawat magsasaka,” the city government said.
