TARLAC CITY, Tarlac — Ten barangays north of the Tarlac River finally regained their digital lifeline on Tuesday after Converge ICT Solutions successfully restored internet services following a four-day outage.
Technicians severed connectivity across the northern district on Friday, September 11, to clear the path for heavy Department of Public Works and Highways equipment mobilized to install a crucial Bailey bridge. Utility cables spanning both the Aquino and Agana bridges went down after catastrophic structural collapses crippled the vital river crossings on August 28 and August 29, respectively.
Converge management deployed work crews around the clock to engineer an unconventional solution across the fractured landscape. Engineers utilized a drone, guiding threads, a heavy-duty rope, and a massive 125-millimeter fiber-optic cable to bridge the wide gap over the Tarlac River.
“This is our commitment to our customers. It was a difficult task, but we have to find ways to serve them,” a Converge official said in a phone call to Tarlakenyo.
The swift restoration ends a communications blackout that isolated households, schools, and local businesses north of the river, returning normalcy to communities still grappling with the infrastructure crisis left by the bridge collapses.
