Villanueva urges preemptive evacuations

CONCEPCION, Tarlac — Municipal authorities urged residents living in high-risk areas to evacuate immediately as torrential rains under a Red Rainfall Warning raised flood risks across the town.

Mayor Noel Villanueva announced that the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) office recommended the preemptive move due to heavy rains driven by a low pressure area.

Villanueva strongly advised residents residing near rivers, flood-prone zones, or in structures made of light materials to head to designated evacuation centers. Evacuees began arriving at shelter sites around 8:45 PM Saturday.

The municipal government opened two primary evacuation sites: the Concepcion Municipal Government Center in Barangay Alfonso and local Barangay Evacuation Centers across affected communities. MSWD personnel are managing the camps to accommodate displaced families.

The local chief executive also strictly warned the public against making prank or fake calls to emergency hotlines, emphasizing that response lines must remain open for critical situations.

Residents can report emergencies to the following hotlines:

  • MDRRMO Concepcion: 0923-542-1382 / 0917-890-5652
  • Concepcion PNP: 0963-771-9539
  • Concepcion BFP: 0995-427-2988 / 0947-621-7265
