SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Zambales (April 24, 2026) — The Central Luzon Media Association (CLMA) directorate officially greenlit a massive journalism seminar targeting government communicators across Zambales following a strategic planning session held here.
The meeting, hosted by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), served as the penultimate briefing for the upcoming training program scheduled for September this year. The initiative aims to sharpen the editorial and media relations skills of Public Information Officers (PIOs) representing the 13 municipalities of Zambales and the lone chartered city of Olongapo.
Practicing media practitioners from the CLMA will lead the seminar, sharing frontline experience in news writing, ethics, and digital broadcasting. CLMA Regional President Deng Pangilinan led the directorate meeting, which was attended by veteran media leaders from the provinces of Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales.
The SBMA provided the venue and support for the assembly as part of its ongoing partnership with the regional press. Armie Llamas, representing the SBMA, formally received the media delegates and expressed the agency’s commitment to fostering better communication standards in the region.
“Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño and the men and women of the SBMA warmly welcome the esteemed Directors of the Central Luzon Media Association! Welcome to Subic Bay!” Llamas said during the opening of the session.
Llamas, head of the SBMA’s Public Relations Office, was joined by Dante Salvaña and Jonas Reyes. Salvaña is the president of CLMA Olongapo Zambales Chapter.
Organizers estimate that the September seminar will draw approximately 100 participants from various local government units.
The Zambales leg serves as the pilot for a larger regional rollout, as the CLMA plans to replicate the training modules in other provinces across Central Luzon to standardize the quality of information dissemination from the grassroots level to the public.
Pangilinan expressed his gratitude to the SBMA leadership for their logistical support, noting that the collaboration between the media and the agency is vital for professionalizing the ranks of information officers. He specifically thanked Chairman Aliño for his consistent backing of CLMA’s educational advocacies.
