TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (March 22, 2026) — The Tarlac City Government held a grand send-off ceremony for student-athletes competing in the 2026 Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet, providing them with uniforms, new shoes, and sports equipment.
Held on Thursday, March 19, at the Diwa ng Tarlac, the event gathered athletes from elementary to high school levels who will represent the city in the upcoming regional sports competitions. The CLRAA Meet will take place in two legs: March 21–27 in Tarlac Province and April 6–13 in Aurora Province.
Leading the send-off was Mayor Susan Yap, who personally handed over the sports kits and delivered an encouraging message to the young athletes.
“Marami akong pangarap para sa inyo na itaas natin ang bandera at ang posisyon ng Tarlac City para sa kanyang ranking sa sports dito sa rehiyon,” Mayor Yap said during the program.
She emphasized the importance of proper equipment and a healthy lifestyle in achieving athletic success.
“Alam ko ang kahalagahan ng tamang equipment at gamit pagdating sa sports. At kung gaano ka-importante ito sa ating buhay, lifestyle. Kaya kung malapit kayo sa sports, natural yung pangangalagaan ang inyong kalusugan. Tamang pagkain, tamang pagtulog, tamang pag-ehersisyo.“
Mayor Yap extended her best wishes to the delegates, saying, “Sa inyong lahat, I only wish you the best. Sa ating mga guro at coaches, maraming salamat po sa mga linggong ginugol niyo para siguraduhing magagaling at may tiyansa ang ating mga atleta. Good luck, Tarlac City! All the best sa inyo! Godspeed po!“
Neil Francis Ramos, coach of the Tarlac City Boxing Team, expressed gratitude on behalf of the athletes.
“In behalf of our boxing team, maraming salamat po and especially to our Mayor, Mayor Susan Yap, maraming salamat po sa pagbigay niyo po ng supporta sa mga atletang Tarlakenyo. Isa itong inspirasyon po nila para pagbutihin ang kanilang paglalaro sa darating na Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association Meet.“
He assured the city of their determination. “At asahan po ninyo na gagawin po namin ang aming makakaya para makuha ang gintong medalya. Maraming salamat po!“
The student-athletes also expressed their gratitude for the support and assistance extended to them as they prepare for the regional competition.
The city government reaffirmed its unwavering support, stating: “Nandito kami, buong Tarlac City, kaagapay ang Pamahalaang Panlungsod sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Mayor Susan Yap, sumusuporta at nagdarasal para sa inyong tagumpay. Anuman ang maging resulta, kayo ay panalo na sa aming mga puso.”
With the send-off marking their final push before the competition, the entire city rallies behind its delegates with the unified battle cry: “Laban, Tarlac City!“
