CAPAS, Tarlac (July 26, 2023) — About 400 Philippine Army (PA) Officer Class 60-2024 members will undergo military training in Cam O’Donnell here.
This comes after the PA had a send-off for the officer candidates in Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City.
The Officer candidates from the Philippine Army Officer Candidate School will undergo military training based on the entire history of the Army to further hone the physical, mental, and leadership capabilities of the officer candidates as the next platoon leaders.
According to PA spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad, this is the largest number of officer candidates from the Philippine Army Officer Candidate School to undergo such military training.
This is in the midst of the gradual shifting of the military from Internal Security Operations to Territorial Defense which requires essential specializations required by the organization to maintain a strong defense posture of the country against the internal and external potential threats it will face.
China is seen as a significant threat by the military as it claims sovereignty over most of the West Philipines Sea.
The Office Candidate Course program is a one-year military training program conducted by the Philippine Army through the Officer Candidate School for aspiring Army officers who have completed their four-year bachelor’s degree.
