More than 64 million sim cards to be deactivated

TARLAKENYO (July 26, 2023) — As the government-mandated SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card registrations ended yesterday, about 64 million will be deactivated.

The registration process, mandated by RA 11934, or the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Act signed by President Bongbong Marcos last October 10, 2022, is a vital step towards building a safer and more secure digital Philippines.

According to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), 74.2% or 49,201,007 of Smart subscribers have registered their sim cards; Globe has 54.73% or 7,400,899 registered, and; DITO Telecommunity with 49.45% or 7,400,899 registered SIMs.

The NTC estimates that 64.46 million unregistered SIM cards will be deactivated by the end of this month.

For complaints, concerns, or inquiries related to SIM Registration, the designated hotline at 1326 is available for assistance.
