CAPAS, Tarlac — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., together with Education Secretary Sonny Angara, inspected the National Academy of Sports (NAS) at the New Clark City Sports Complex on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
During the visit, Marcos toured the Academy’s academic, training and residential facilities, observed student-athletes during training, and inspected ongoing infrastructure projects.
The President also checked on the first batch of NAS scholars as the academy continues to develop future Filipino champions through quality basic education and world-class sports training.
For School Year 2026–2027, the academy will support 246 student-athletes specializing in aquatics, athletics, badminton, gymnastics, judo, table tennis and taekwondo.
Marcos and Angara were also joined by Tarlac Governor Christian Yap and Bases Conversion and Development Authority president and Chief Executive Officer Jake Bingcang during the visit.
The NAS campus is part of the New Clark City Sports Complex, the country’s flagship sports hub, which hosted several events during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Established under Republic Act No. 11470, the NAS serves as the country’s premier institution for gifted young Filipino student-athletes, combining quality education with specialized sports training under one campus.
