PGT distributes rice aid to indigenous families in San Clemente

SAN CLEMENTE, Tarlac (April 17, 2026) — The Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT) has extended its rice assistance program to the indigenous communities of Sitio Dueg in Brgy. Maasin, San Clemente, Tarlac, providing much-needed food support to 300 families on Thursday, April 16.

The rice distribution was facilitated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) under the leadership of Ms. Ma. Elena Jalos. The activity is part of the broader rice program initiated by the PGT, led by Governor Christian Yap, in coordination with Vice Governor Lita Aquino.

According to local officials, the program aims to promote better health for all residents while addressing the daily food needs of every Tarlakenyo.

A total of 300 sacks of rice were distributed to the indigenous peoples and residents living in the remote community, helping sustain their daily food requirements. The activity seeks to ensure proper nutrition for residents, which they need for maintaining good health.

Residents expressed their gratitude for the assistance. Danny, a resident of Sitio Dueg, shared:

Nagpapasalamat po kami dito sa tulong ni Christian Yap. Sa ngayon po sa sitwasyon namin dito po sa bundok ay nahihirapan po kami, at kahit ano pong hirap ang daing ay ibinibigay po ang suporta [sa amin].”

Another resident, Albert, also expressed his thanks, saying:

Kahit na mataas ‘yong lugar po namin, malaking tulong po sa ‘min, pati sa mga sopas po, nasisiyahan po ang mga bata. Salamat po sa tulong na binigay po ninyo.”

The rice distribution in Sitio Dueg forms part of the provincial government’s ongoing commitment to reaching even the most geographically isolated communities in Tarlac.
