Concepcion launches foliar fertilizer aid for farmers

CONCEPCION, Tarlac (April 16, 2026) – The local government of Concepcion, in partnership with the regional and provincial offices, launched the ceremonial distribution of foliar fertilizer on Wednesday, April 15, at Don Alfredo de Leon Conference Hall in the Concepcion Municipal Government Center.

Present at the event were Mayor Noel Villanueva, Provincial Agriculturist Noel Regis, and Municipal Agriculturist Juanito Lindo Jr.

In his message to the farmers and attendees, Mayor Villanueva emphasized his administration’s commitment to agricultural development and the well-being of the farming community.

Importante pu, ing pakaasahan yu, na iting administrasyun atin ya pung direksyun king balen Concepcion, apin po ing pakatandanan yu. At ita ing pangaku ku kekayu ngan, eke paburen magwasang-wasang ing balen tamu. Kailangan agyang nanu ing daralanan tang kasakitan, ing ukyatan tamu ing papunta king progresu

(What is important is that you can expect this administration to have a direction for the town of Concepcion, that is what you should remember. And that is my promise to all of you: I will not let our town be neglected. No matter what hardships we go through, we must still climb toward progress),” Villanueva said.

Each farmer-beneficiary received two liters of liquid foliar fertilizer and one powder formulation of Foliar Base fertilizer.

In an interview, Municipal Agriculturist Juanito Lindo Jr. explained that the initiative is part of a continuing effort to support rice farmers, particularly those using inbred seeds. He recalled that during the wet season in February, inbred seeds had no fertilizer support unlike hybrid seeds and were funded only by the regional office, with seedlings coming from PhilRice. That earlier program distributed 14,000 bags of rice (20 kilos per bag) covering around 7,000 hectares.

Lindo highlighted the significance of the foliar fertilizer program amid soaring fertilizer prices.

King panahon ngeni na mal ing abono, atleast kalupa king programang areni kumbaga akakit tamu ken na si-symbolize ne ing pamag-halaga tamu king kapagalan da ring kekatamung ortelano. Nung makananu lang makasawup mamye king kekatamung kakanan, despite ngeni na dakal challenges at mekamal ing panyalwan kalupa ning abono

(In this time when fertilizer is expensive, at least with programs like these, we see that it also symbolizes our appreciation for the hard work or sacrifice of our farmers. How they help provide us with food, despite the many challenges and the rising prices of commodities, including fertilizer),” Lindo said.

Lindo also noted that the foliar fertilizer serves as an alternative to help crops grow and increase harvest. He added that Concepcion leads the entire province of Tarlac in receiving the most services from the national government, citing that the municipality has over 8,000 farmers and vast agricultural land, farming is the primary livelihood of its residents.

The distribution is seen as a timely intervention to help farmers boost crop growth and increase harvest yields despite the rising cost of commercial fertilizers.
