Tarlac province shines in 2024 SGLG awards

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (November 20, 2024) — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recently announced the winners of the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), with a record-breaking 714 local government units (LGUs) receiving the prestigious award.

Tarlac province demonstrated outstanding performance, with 17 LGUs earning recognition for their commitment to efficient leadership and excellent public service.

This year’s awardees include the provincial government of Tarlac, Tarlac City, and the municipalities of Anao, Camiling, Capas, Concepcion, Gerona, La Paz, Mayantoc, Moncada, Paniqui, Pura, Ramos, San Clemente, San Manuel, Santa Ignacia, and Victoria.

Victoria achieved its seventh straight SGLG award, highlighting its dedication to good governance and local reforms. Concepcion had its second consecutive award after Mayor Noel Villanueva made it his mission to bring the local government on par with the other municipalities in the province.

“For too long, Concepcion has missed out on this prestigious award after winning the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) in 2011,” Villanueva said.

The SGH was replaced by the SGLG in 2014.

The SGLG is a recognition-based program that acknowledges LGUs for upholding high standards across various governance areas, including financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, health, education, business-friendliness, peace and order, environmental management, tourism, and youth development. This year’s assessment criteria were further enhanced to emphasize outcome-based performance and public accountability.

The DILG commended all awardees for their exemplary service and dedication to improving the lives of their constituents. Each LGU will receive a marker and an incentive fund to support local development initiatives aligned with national goals.
