Savior’s vibrant welcome: SM City Tarlac’s official entry for 2024 ‘Belenismo’

TARLAKENYO (November 11, 2024) — This year’s Belenismo showcases a vivid and captivating entry from SM City Tarlac with its display titled “Savior’s Vibrant Welcome.” This entry, standing proudly at the forefront of the mall, is not just a stunning visual delight but a heartfelt tribute to the timeless message of Christmas. The display harmonizes tradition, sustainability, and artistry, providing shoppers and visitors with a holiday experience that’s both inspiring and thought-provoking.

Framing the Nativity scene, the golden arch radiates a warm, welcoming glow, symbolizing the birth of Jesus into the world. The meteor lights cast a lively ambiance, representing the joyous spirit of Christmas—hope, love, and unity. The half-sphere backdrop is not just decoration but an invitation for every visitor to embrace the true meaning of the season. The light in this bright display represents the vibrance of faith and the bright future that the Nativity story has long symbolized.

At the heart of this dazzling display are the serene nativity figures of Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus, surrounded by the Angel, the Three Kings, and animals. The figures, adorned in soft satin and textured fabrics, complement the bright lights that softly reflect off the scene, creating an ethereal atmosphere. The nativity scene is further enhanced by the elegant use of sinamay fabric, intricately crafted from indigenous abaca, which adds a uniquely Filipino touch to the setting.

What sets this Belen apart is its foundation in sustainability. The 32-foot wide platform is made from recycled materials sourced from the mall’s recent expansion, wrapped in solihiya print that honors traditional Filipino craftsmanship. What once served a structural purpose now symbolizes new beginnings and enduring hope, echoing the Christmas message of finding beauty in humility and light in the unexpected.

Adding a meaningful cultural layer, the display features the “Prayer Before the Belen” etched in two languages—English and Filipino.

Shoppers and visitors are invited to rediscover the story of the nativity through the lens of Filipino craftsmanship, sustainability, and a shared sense of community. The use of recycled materials connects the display with modern environmental consciousness while preserving the tradition and message of Nativity.

Belenismo will be on display from November 4, 2024, to January 6, 2025, offering everyone who visits SM City Tarlac an opportunity to reflect on the season’s true meaning.
