Rep. Yap misses rural life

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (July 4, 2024) — Tarlac Second District Congressional Representative Christian Tell Yap said that he misses being in the executive position and close to the people in the province.

“Sa executive mas nagagawa mo yung gusto mong programs,” Yap said when asked what position he will be running for in 2025.

But he was quick to say this is the party’s prerogative, not his.

“The NPC (Nationalist People’s Coalition) has a consultative process. Kung saan ako kakailanganin ng Partido, iyon ang susundin ko.

“Executive sana dahil sanay ako as mayor. Mas gusto ko sa probinsya at malapit sa mga taong pnagsisilbihan mo. Ang kagandahan sa Legislative naman ay nae-expose ka sa paggawa ng batas sa national level,” Yap said.

The son of Tarlac Governor Susan Yap was the Local Chief Executive of Victoria town from 2019-2022 before he replaced his uncle, former governor and congressman Victor Yap, as congressional candidate in 2022.

As a congressman, Yap is the principal author of Republic Act 11967 otherwise known as the “Internet Transactions Act”, RA 11934 or the “SIM Registration Act”, and various other House Bills in different statuses in the Lower House, including lowering the optional retirement age of government workers and the establishment of a nursing complex for the elderly in the province of Tarlac.
