GERONA, Tarlac (March 31, 2024) — A former vice-mayor here posted on social media that his life is in danger.
Ronjie Daquigan, Tarlac Chapter president of the media group Prime Alliance of Publishers, Editors, and Reporters (PAPER.Ph) posted on Facebook’s Story a note saying that if something happens to him and Mayor (Eloy) Eclar, four suspects will be responsible.

“Gagastos pa kayo ng 10 M para … ipatiGOk kami…,” the note read.
In another photo circulating online, Daquigan is seen holding the note, this time bearing his name and alias ‘Vicente Chan.’
It is widely believed that the four suspects identified in the portmanteaus refer to Daquigan’s and Eclar’s political opponents. Eclar’s wife, May, and incumbent Vice Mayor Ronald Go are expected to be the mayoralty candidates in Gerona next year.
“Kaya ko nilabas ang threat sa amin ay dahil napag-alaman namin ni Mayor Eclar na may patong na sa aming mga ulo. Taga-Ilocos region ang mga dumating (referring to the alleged gunmen),” Daquigan said.
Tarlakenyo cannot independently confirm the claimed threat by Daquigan and is still trying to reach out to Mayor Eclar and Vice Mayor Go for their comments.
