Concepcion, Magalang, now twin towns

MAGALANG, Pampanga (July 6, 2023) – Picking up from where it left off two weeks ago, Concepcion, Tarlac signed a sisterhood pact with its southern neighbor, Magalang, Pampanga.

Local Chief Executives Noel Villanueva of Concepcion and Malu Lacson of Magalang became sister municipalities after signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) this afternoon here.

A red carpet welcome greeted Mayor Noel Villanueva when he arrived at Magalang town hall.

The Concepcion delegation included Sangguniang Bayan Members Erwin James Villanueva, Jayson Lagman, Carlo Avena, and Boy Mandal.

“Hindi kailanman dapat maghiwalay ang Magalang at Concepcion dahil sa iisang layunin – ang magkaisa ang ating mga mamamayan at paunlarin natin nang sabayan ang ating mga bayan,” said Mayor Villanueva.

The MOA between Concepcion and Magalang will foster friendship, and unity, and ensure the cultivation of cultural and economic ties.

“Together, we can achieve more by pooling our resources, knowledge, and experiences; we can tackle challenges and implement innovative initiatives and bring about positive change for our residents,” said Mayor Lacson.

Concepcion and Magalang came from one town – San Bartolome. A devastating flood in 1863 gave birth to two new towns. Because of this, San Bartolome was nicknamed ‘Balen a Melakwan’ (Abandoned Town) and it is now just another barangay of Concepcion.
