RHUs conduct medical, dental missions

CONCEPCION, Tarlac (May 10, 2023) — The medical mission was carried out through the joint cooperation of Rural Health Unit (RHU) 1, RHU2, and RHU3, which enabled them to provide essential healthcare services and assistance to individuals and communities in need.

Last March, during the medical mission, healthcare services were extended to various barangays, including Pando, Sta. Cruz, and Talimundoc Marimla, where medical professionals aim to promote good health and prevent the spread of diseases, provided accessible healthcare services to the community.

Tuberculosis screening, blood chem tests, tooth extraction, and distribution of medicine are regularly conducted three times a month in various barangays of this town.

By bringing these services closer to the residents, it is hoped that the community will become more proactive in taking care of their health and that early detection of illnesses can lead to better treatment outcomes.

In Barangay Sta. Maria, about 100 residents availed of medical consultations, 50 of whom underwent chest x-ray examinations to detect any respiratory problems, while 30 had their blood chem tests performed to check for any abnormal blood chemistries. Additionally, few had a tooth extraction procedure to address their dental concerns.

The medical program was made possible through the Local Government Unit’s medical professionals, led by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Raymund Valdez, Dr. Dolores Cunanan, and Dr. Harold Dela Vega.

“The primary goal of our program is to provide accessible healthcare services to individuals in need. The program’s priorities are individuals who exhibit symptoms of tuberculosis, as early detection is crucial in preventing the spread of the disease.

“Once individuals with symptoms of tuberculosis are identified, they will be given six months of treatment to ensure that the disease is fully treated and prevented from spreading further,” said Dr. Valdez.

Adopting healthy habits and seeking immediate consultation and focused treatment when necessary is crucial. Healthy habits such as regular exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate rest can significantly improve an individual’s immune system, reducing the risk of contracting chronic diseases that promotes better health and well-being for all.
