DTI teaches kamote, buko pie processing skills

SAN CLEMENTE, Tarlac (May 23, 2023) — Twenty-nine residents of this town underwent training on sweet potato processing skills conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The skills the participants learned included making jam, candy, chips, and snacks using sweet potatoes.

DTI Tarlac OIC-Provincial Director Zaida Garibay said that the training was conducted in partnership with the town’s Public Employment Service Office to boost the local economy.

“The training encourages attendees to consider entrepreneurship as their source of income since it develops know-how and introduces new products using affordable and readily available raw materials that they can produce and sell easily,” Garibay said.

Meanwhile, in Capas town, the DTI, in cooperation with Ka-Sambayanihan volunteers of the National Anti-Poverty Commission, held a training on starting up a business and buko pie and roll making.

This is part of the assistance the agency provides through its Negosyo Centers present in all municipalities of the province.
