(TARLAKENYO) June 26, 2025 — BDO Unibank has issued a warning against the rising threat of deepfake and AI-generated videos impersonating trusted sources, including bank representatives.
In a recent advisory, BDO emphasized that fraudulent videos and messages may appear legitimate but are designed to manipulate victims into divulging personal or financial information. The bank urged the public to rely only on verified communication channels, such as its official website (www.bdo.com.ph) and social media pages, for accurate information.
“Do not engage with suspicious links or calls claiming to be from BDO,” the statement read. “Always verify through our official platforms before sharing sensitive data.”
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) back BDO’s reminder, noting that deposits are insured up to ₱1 million per depositor. For more details, customers are advised to check the About section of BDO’s official Facebook page or visit regulatory websites (www.bsp.gov.ph, www.pdic.gov.ph).
The #BDOStopScam campaign reinforces the bank’s commitment to cybersecurity amid increasing digital fraud. Authorities encourage reporting suspicious activities to BDO’s customer service hotline or via the BSP’s whistleblower channels.
