PGT rolls out 80 tuk-tuks to strengthen barangay services

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac – In a bid to strengthen public service delivery at the grassroots level, the Provincial Government of Tarlac, led by Governor Christian Yap and Vice Governor Lita Aquino, officially distributed 80 new tuk-tuk units to barangays on Monday, October 7.

The turnover ceremony saw 51 tuk-tuks allocated to barangays in District 1 and 29 units to District 3, as part of the province’s efforts to improve mobility and emergency response in local communities.

“Layunin po natin na mas mapalapit ang tulong at serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan,” Yap said during the distribution.

The governor emphasized that the vehicles are intended to enhance the capacity of local officials to respond to urgent needs, emergencies, and various government programs.

The governor also reminded barangay officials to properly maintain the units, stressing that the vehicles are essential tools for delivering services to constituents.

In addition to the tuk-tuks, Yap announced that each recipient barangay will receive a ₱3,000 Petron gas card. He also revealed that the provincial government is procuring electric buses as part of efforts to modernize transportation and is establishing colleges in the province.

The governor called for unity among barangays to ensure the continued improvement of services for Tarlaqueños.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the mobilization and responsiveness of local government units, bringing government services closer to residents across the province.
