TARLAC CITY, Tarlac — A First Day Rage rally was held at Tarlac State University (TSU) on Monday, led by the Alliance of Concerned Students–TSU (ACS) and Kabataan Tarlakenyo para sa Bayan (KTB).
During the rally, the groups called for the abolition of the Parent Council Fee, the Opt-Out system, and other collection mechanisms implemented by the university, citing concerns over the commercialization of education.
The groups also opposed the militarization of the university, rejected the proposed Pax Silica Project, and called for the recognition of the ancestral land rights of the Ayta community in Capas, Tarlac.
The groups likewise urged the government to increase the budget for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), saying additional funding is needed to strengthen public education.
The call “Aktibista, hindi terorista, stop red-tagging!” was also raised during the program as part of the groups’ demands.
The rally marked the groups’ first mobilization for the opening of the academic year, highlighting campus concerns and broader social issues.
