TSU launches AI-powered chatbot for students, employees

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac — Tarlac State University (TSU) has launched its own artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, FOXY (Future-ready Online eXperience for You), designed to assist students and employees with their various inquiries.

FOXY, a product of the Office of Management Information Systems – Software Development Unit (OMIS-SDU), was unveiled during the flag-raising activity at the Main Campus of TSU on June 23, 2026. Students and employees can easily access the digital assistant using the TSU student and employee portals.

The digital assistant is part of the school’s initiative to transition into a digitally transformed university, making information more accessible to users.

As university officials noted, FOXY is an AI-powered digital assistant that will allow students and employees to have fast and convenient answers to their questions through a centralized digital assistant.

During the launch, Vice President for Administration and concurrent OMIS Director Marlon Gamido underscored the main focus and commitment of the university.

ā€œWith more than 55 systems developed, our commitment remains the same: to simplify complexity through technology and empower the university to focus on what matters most—education, service, and innovation,ā€ Gamido said.

Currently in its trial phase, FOXY makes use of information obtained from the official university website, tsu.gov.ph, as its main source of knowledge. The program answers user queries based on the information stored in its system.

TSU president Jasper Jay Mendoza stressed that while many institutions possess greater resources, the university distinguishes itself through its capability to maximize its available assets.

ā€œMany institutions have more than we do. What sets TSU apart is not how we are given, but how resourcefully we use what God and this institution have given us,ā€ Mendoza said.

ā€œSustainable innovation does not begin with abundance; it begins with a resourceful mind,ā€ he added.

The flag-raising ceremony was organized in cooperation with the OMIS-SDU, Center for Community and Local Governance Studies and Policy Development, and the Automotive Department of the College of Industrial Technology of the Lucinda and San Isidro campuses.
