Bomb threats disrupt classes in Tarlac City, Capas

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac — A wave of online bomb threats targeting schools in Tarlac City and Capas disrupted classes for two straight days, prompting an intense police investigation into the digital scare.

The social media post on the bomb threat started circulating before noon yesterday, June 22, 2026, prompting some schools to cut short their classes.

A Facebook post uploaded by an account operating under the name “Erick Will” has become a central focus of the authorities, as it issued threats if the demand is not met.

“Bombing of this [sic] chosen schools will be held on June 24-27,2026 Before leaving this town We already sent you an agreement to settle, furthermore ignoring or no reply means you don’t care and ready for the damages and casualties We already planted it to [sic] your respective areas, others we’re [sic] brought by your student even your own guard are one of us”

In the now-deleted Facebook account, the post concludes with the warning, “Failure to [sic] proposal we have said will trigger [sic].”

The grammatical error-filled social media post explicitly named eight educational institutions: Don Bosco, Martinet School Inc., San Rafael Elementary School, San Miguel Central Elementary School, Creston Academy, Burot Integrated School, and College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac (CHST) — all from Tarlac City, and Montessori School of St. Nicholas in Capas, Tarlac.

CHST and Creston had their classes suspended since noon Monday, June 22, 2026, when initial security concerns came to light, with the former saying that the bomb threat was a “hoax.”

“Following a thorough inspection by the PNP EOD/K9 Group and the BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection), the reported bomb threat has been declared a hoax, and the CHST campus has been certified safe and secure. Face-to-face classes and all regular school activities will resume on Tuesday, June 23, 2026,” the school’s statement released on Monday said. However, classes remained suspended on Tuesday, and a shift to online classes was announced for June 24, 2026.

Montessori also received a bomb threat on Monday morning, prompting school authorities to suspend classes. The PNP immediately dispatched its K9 and Explosive Ordinance Disposal teams to inspect the school facilities and classroom.

Meanwhile, students at Don Bosco Tarlac, both at their Sto. Cristo and Cresendo campuses, were told to go home at around 9:30 AM. Tarlac State University also cancelled in-school activities on June 23, 2026, and went on lockdown.

Messages sent to several media outlets on June 23, 2026, revealed that the same person or group was demanding P50,000 from each school. The sender asked the media entities to pass on the message — threat and demand — apparently to the same schools. The message set the deadline for today, June 23.

“P50k bawat paaralan bago namin lisanin ang bayan na ito,” part of the message read before repeating their earlier threats.

The Tarlac Police Provincial Office, led by Acting Provincial Director PCOL Harry R. Lorenzo III, has emphasized that a comprehensive criminal investigation is actively underway to unmask the individual or group operating the “Erick Will” account. The Provincial Explosives and Canine Unit (PECU) is continuing its security assessments, and overall campus security measures are being tightly augmented across the province.

Police authorities have strictly warned the public that creating, sending, or sharing such malicious content carries heavy legal consequences. A public safety advisory from the Tarlac Police Provincial Office, the statement reminds citizens of the strict penalties under Philippine law:
– Legal Infraction: Any form of bomb joke or false bomb threat is a direct violation of Presidential Decree No. 1727.
– Criminal Penalties: Individuals found guilty face up to five (5) years of imprisonment, a fine of P40,000.00, or both.

The Tarlac PNP continues to urge the community to remain calm but observant, and to immediately report any suspicious digital accounts or physical activities to local hotlines at 0998-861-9291. With reports from Rainier Acosta
