TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (Jan. 30, 2026) – The City Government of Tarlac, led by Mayor Susan Yap, is starting a big new plan to fix the heavy traffic that has bothered the city for many years.
They are holding a special planning meeting called the Smart City Roadmapping Workshop. This is not just a small fix—it is part of a bigger, long-term plan to make the city move better and be a nicer place to live.
The three-day workshop started on January 28 and will last until today, January 30 at Tarlac City Hall. Many different city offices and experts are working together. Their main job is to make a clear plan that will use technology, better management, and improved public services to help with traffic and other city needs.
Mayor Susan Yap joined the meeting herself and shared her hope for the project. She said, “Hindi lang solusyon ngayon, kundi pangmatagalang ginhawa para sa bawat Tarlaqueño.”
The plan includes several key projects to reduce traffic. These include special driving seminars to teach drivers to be safer and more disciplined on the road, as well as upgraded training for traffic officers so they can manage the flow of cars more quickly and effectively.
The plan also involves using smart city technology to better coordinate traffic lights, public transportation, and roads for smoother overall travel.
The goal is to create a plan that really fits what Tarlac City needs. By using data and new tools, the city hopes to stop traffic problems before they happen, instead of just reacting to them.
People in Tarlac have dealt with slow and packed roads for a long time. Many are now hopeful that this new smart plan will finally make travel in the city smoother, safer, and faster.
The results of this workshop could be the first step toward a more modern, organized, and ready-for-the-future Tarlac City.
