BSKE 2025 moved to Nov. 2, 2026

TARLAKENYO (August 14, 2025) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 12232, effectively postponing the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) to next year.

The new law aligns the BSKE with the first Monday of November 2026, with subsequent elections held every four years thereafter. Winning candidates will assume the post on December 1, following the elections.

The next BSKE is on November 2, 2026. The country’s last BSKE was held on Oct. 30, 2023.

RA 12232 also changed the term limits to four years; barangay officials can serve up to 12 years in the same position. However, no elective barangay official shall serve for more than three consecutive terms in the same position.

Incumbent barangay officials on their third consecutive term will not be eligible to run for the same position in 2026.

No elective SK official shall serve for more than one term in the same position.
