PANIQUI, Tarlac (July 23, 2025) – The Sangguniang Bayan of Paniqui today unanimously approved Resolution No. 065-S2025, officially declaring a State of Calamity in the municipality.
The decision comes in response to the widespread flooding caused by Typhoon “Crising,” which has been exacerbated by the Southwest Monsoon, locally known as “Habagat.”
The resolution, passed during a special session of the 13th Sangguniang Bayan, highlights the severe impact of the continuous rains and resulting floods, which have not only damaged agricultural properties but also displaced numerous families in low-lying areas of the municipality.
According to the resolution, initial evaluations by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Municipal Agriculture Office, and the Municipal Engineering Office indicated that several areas within Paniqui are inundated, prompting the immediate declaration. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) had also recommended the declaration of a State of Calamity.
The declaration allows the local government to access emergency funds to address the needs of affected residents and facilitate rehabilitation efforts.
