CONCEPCION, Tarlac (February 3, 2025) – SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp., the country’s flagship steel company, is expanding its operations with a new plant in Concepcion, Tarlac, alongside other new facilities in Davao City, Batangas, and Quezon.
This expansion comes as SteelAsia recently marked the Philippines’ largest steel export to date, shipping over P1.1 billion worth of products to Canada last week.
The company exported 32,000 metric tons (MT) of high-strength reinforcing steel from its Davao City plant for a subway project in Vancouver, Canada. This shipment, valued at over $19 million, brought SteelAsia’s total exports for the project to 87,000 MT, worth approximately P3.2 billion.
While celebrating this export success, SteelAsia is also focused on domestic growth. Chairman and CEO Benjamin Yao noted that the company’s biggest customers are the country’s top developers. The new plants, including the one in Concepcion, aim to replace imports, generate new businesses, create local jobs, and support economic growth.
SteelAsia is also constructing a green steel H beam plant in Lemery, Batangas, and is set to begin site development in Candelaria, Quezon, for a second green steel H beam plant worth P30 billion. The Quezon plant, expected to start commercial operations in 2027, will utilize the latest European steel technology. The company also has existing plants in Batangas, Bulacan, and Cebu.
