TARLAC CITY, Tarlac — The City Government of Tarlac, led by Mayor Susan Yap, began distributing ₱500 in additional educational cash assistance to Grade 7 to Grade 12 students on Wednesday, November 4 — the mayor’s birthday.
The “dagdag baon” (additional allowance) program, which forms part of the city’s continued investment in education, aims to help students with their daily school needs. Beneficiaries include students from Sto. Cristo Integrated School and Tibag High School, who received the cash aid during separate distribution events held the same day.
During the visit to Sto. Cristo Integrated School, Mayor Yap personally handed out the assistance and expressed gratitude for the warm reception she received, including a surprise birthday greeting from students that she said truly made her heart happy.
In the afternoon, the mayor proceeded to Tibag High School to distribute the cash aid, where students also prepared a surprise birthday celebration for her. An visibly moved Yap thanked the students for their greetings and for remembering her special day.
“Isa lang ang bilin ko sa inyo — mag-aral kayong mabuti at alagaan ang inyong kalusugan para maabot ninyo ang mga pangarap ninyo sa buhay,” Yap told the students, adding that the city government will continue to expand programs and support for the youth of Tarlac City.
Under Yap’s leadership, the city government has consistently prioritized education and youth welfare, with the cash assistance program serving as additional support to help students pursue their academic goals.
“Gamitin ito nang maayos, mag-aral nang mabuti at patuloy na abutin ang inyong mga pangarap,” the mayor advised the beneficiaries.
The distribution of the additional allowance is part of the city’s broader efforts to ease the financial burden on students and encourage them to stay in school. City officials said more schools are expected to receive the assistance in the coming days.
The program reflects the local government’s commitment to ensuring that every Tarlac City student has the support they need to succeed academically and achieve their dreams.
