PANIQUI, Tarlac — Nearly 2,000 employment opportunities will soon open for local residents following discussions between municipal officials and renewable energy developers regarding a massive green energy project in this town.
Local officials, led by Mayor Kat Roxas, recently met with representatives from Alternergy Holdings Corp. and its subsidiary, Liberty Solar Energy Corp., to finalize implementation plans for the multi-billion-peso venture.
The ambitious project involves an P8.8-billion floating solar farm situated on a 144-hectare property spanning existing fishponds in Barangay San Isidro. Engineered as an innovative aquavoltaic project, the facility will feature solar installations designed to co-exist with and sustain ongoing aquaculture production.
Project developers and local officials highlighted the immense potential for job creation, estimating that the initiative will generate employment opportunities across various phases of construction and operation.
Roxas emphasized the importance of ensuring that the economic benefits directly reach local residents, securing a commitment that qualified Paniqueños will receive priority for all available positions.
The massive investment is expected to significantly boost the local economy and provide sustainable livelihood options for the community. Construction on the facility targets a mid-2026 rollout, with commercial operations slated for mid-to-late 2027 following the project’s secured contract under the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program.
