TARLAC CITY, Tarlac — The Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT), under the leadership of Governor Christian Yap, successfully conducted a rice distribution for transport cooperatives across the province on July 7 at the Bulwagang Kanlahi.
The activity, held under the “Bagong Pilipinas: Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program, aimed to provide relief to drivers and transport workers who have been significantly affected by the fuel crisis.
Alongside the distribution, the PGT also recognized the invaluable contributions of transport cooperatives to the province’s transportation sector and the local economy.
Governor Yap: Help for Farmers, Drivers First
In his speech, Governor Yap expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the rice program, which made the distribution possible.
“Andito tayo ngayon upang ipaabot ang tulong galing sa ating minamahal na Presidente, Presidente Bongbong Marcos, itong rice program niya,” Yap said.
He also recognized the sacrifices of the transport sector, noting that despite operating at a loss, drivers continued to serve the public to keep the economy alive. He emphasized that because of their dedication, students are able to go to school and workers are able to commute to their jobs every day.
“Sa daming pwedeng bigyan ng tulong, sinabi ko ‘tulungan muna natin ang mga Toda, namamasada, dahil sila ang dumaan sa fuel crisis,” he added.
Partnership with National Government
The rice distributed during the event is a product of the continued partnership between the National Government and the PGT. The initiative is part of the broader advocacy of the PGT to ensure the welfare and support for every sector of the community.
Governor Yap said they distributed rice with the national government to help ease the daily lives of their fellow citizens who are most in need.
The governor assured the public that government offices remain open to assist residents who may need further assistance in the coming days.

Representatives from various transport cooperatives across Tarlac attended the event and expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided by the provincial government.
The rice distribution initiative underscores the PGT’s commitment to supporting marginalized sectors, particularly transport workers, who continue to face economic challenges.
Governor Christian Yap and Vice Governor Lita Aquino assured that the PGT will continue to roll out programs that address the needs of hardworking Tarlaqueños, ensuring that their sacrifices are met with meaningful support from the government.
