GERONA, Tarlac — The municipality of Gerona marked a significant milestone in its healthcare delivery system with the blessing and inauguration of the new Gerona Municipal Pharmacy on Monday, June 29, 2026.
The facility, now strategically located in front of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Building, was officially blessed in a ceremony led by Mayor May Eclar, alongside Vice Mayor Eloy Eclar, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Abner Lagade, other SB members, and with the municipal employees.
In her statement, Mayor Eclar emphasized that the new pharmacy represents the local government’s unwavering commitment to making essential medicines more accessible to every Geronian, particularly those who need them most.
“This facility reflects our continuing commitment to bring healthcare services closer to the community. It is our hope that this initiative will help ease the burden of our constituents,” Mayor Eclar said.
The Gerona Municipal Pharmacy is designed to provide free medicines to qualified residents.
To avail of the program, patients must first consult with doctors at the Gerona Rural Health Unit (RHU) to obtain a prescription. They may then proceed to the municipal pharmacy with their RHU-issued prescription and a valid ID proving their residency in Gerona.
Officials stressed that only prescriptions issued by Gerona RHU doctors will be honored at the facility, ensuring proper medical oversight and appropriate medication dispensing.
“This new Municipal Pharmacy serves as a symbol of our shared commitment to a healthier, stronger, and more compassionate Gerona,” Mayor Eclar added.
The initiative is part of the local government’s broader efforts to strengthen healthcare programs and ensure that every Geronian receives the care and support they deserve.
The event concluded with the administration’s hallmark message: “Serbisyong May Puso, Serbisyong Totoo!” — a testament to their promise of genuine and compassionate service to the people.
