TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (Jan. 22, 2026) – In a move to support sustainable reintegration, the Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT), through the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO), awarded livelihood starter kits to 25 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families on Thursday.
The initiative, led by Governor Christian Yap, is part of the provincial government’s “Tao Muna” (People First) agenda, which prioritizes human development and economic empowerment for Tarlaqueños.
A total of 25 equipment kits were distributed, including 1 smoke chamber, 9 three-in-one cooking sets, 6 sewing machines, and 9 vego carts. These starter kits are designed to help beneficiaries establish their own small businesses and build long-term, sustainable livelihoods within the province.
During the awarding ceremony, Governor Yap personally encouraged the new entrepreneurs. He emphasized the importance of diligent effort, proper financial management, and smart reinvestment of profits to ensure business growth.
“Napakasuwerte natin ngayong araw dahil mayroon tayong 25 beneficiaries ng iba’t ibang kagamitan… Gusto lang naming ipaabot na galingan ninyo at magkaroon kayo ng maayos na financial management, at maayos na pag-invest nung mga kita ninyo, para lumalaki ang negosyo,” Governor Yap said.
He also reminded recipients not to take the opportunity for granted, noting that thousands are in need of similar support. “Dahil itong pang-umpisa ay ibinibigay sa inyo ng gobyerno, ang dami nating kailangang tulungan, so huwag niyo pong sayangin itong oportunidad,” he added.
Governor Yap further encouraged beneficiaries to continue their education and skills training through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to expand their business capabilities. He shared a personal anecdote of his father-in-law, who started a small ‘Katinko’ ointment business and persevered until it grew substantially.
“Ang pagnenegosyo, minsan madali at minsan mahirap… pero kailangang magpursige. Para lumaki ang inyong mga negosyo at balang araw, ay magbibigay rin kayo ng mas maraming trabaho para sa ating mga kababayang Tarlakequeño,” the Governor stated.
The program reflects the provincial government’s recognition of the sacrifices made by OFWs, often hailed as modern-day heroes, and its commitment to helping them build a stable future upon their return.
