TARLAKENYO (July 30, 2025) — Regulators have launched a sweeping crackdown against online lender Creditable Lending Corporation and its EasyPeso app.
The authorities filed criminal charges against 173 employees, plus top executives and owners, for allegedly subjecting borrowers to systematic harassment during debt collection.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the National Bureau of Investigation, the National Privacy Commission, and police forces executed the raid on Creditable Lending’s Pasig City office on July 15.
The operation resulted in arrests and the seizure of a digital arsenal, including computers, company phones, pre-registered SIM cards, text-blasting machines, and crucially, scripts allegedly used to intimidate borrowers.
Creditable Lending’s personnel are charged with the violation of the Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection Act (RA 11765) for abusive collection practices; the Data Privacy Act (RA 10173) for the alleged misuse of borrowers’ personal information; and the Cybercrime Prevention Act (RA 10175) for misuse of devices and illegal access tied to their digital harassment tactics.
The SEC issued a cease and desist order against Creditable Lending and EasyPeso, directing them and anyone acting on their behalf to stop all lending activities, promotions, and transactions with immediate effect.
