TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (April 13, 2025) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are conducting military operations to dismantle the remaining communist guerrilla operations in Northern Luzon.
According to the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) based here, troops encountered members of the New People’s Army belonging to the Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee in remote areas of Apayao, leading to brief firefights. The AFP has deployed additional forces to track down the insurgents.
The latest encounters yielded several firearms, including rifles, pistols, a grenade launcher, and improvised explosive devices.
NOLCOM chief Lt. Gen. Fernyl Buca said that the pursuit operations against the NPA will deprive them of safe places to hide.
“Our troops remain focused and determined. This is part of our relentless pursuit to deny communist terrorist groups of a safe haven. We are committed to hit them hard and sustain pressure until peace and security are achieved in the region,” Buca said.
The AFP assures the public that operations will be conducted with precision to minimize civilian disruption while maintaining pressure on insurgent forces.
