Concepcion opens new govt center

CONCEPCION, Tarlac (March 27, 2025) — The local government unveiled the newly constructed Concepcion Municipal Government Center (CMGC) in Barangay Alfonso this afternoon.

“Noong 2022, pinangarap ko pong magkaroon ng isang bagong munisipyo para sa ating bayan. Sa araw na ito, this is more than a mere inauguration – this is a realization of a vision, a product of years of hard work, sacrifice nd unwavering commitment,” Mayor Noel Villanueva said.

The sprawling two-story government building, with a total floor space of 7,200 square meters, houses several government institutions, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Commission on Audit, the Philippine Postal Corporation, Government Service Insurance System, and Social Security System, in addition to local government offices.

“Ang pagtatayo ng isang Municipal Government Center na magsisilbing simbolo ng mas mahusay, mas episyenteng paglilingkod ara sa ating mga kababayan, at para sa isang maunlad at maliwanag na bukas para sa bayan ng Concepcion,” Villanueva added.

Gracing the historic event were Tarlac Governor Susan Yap, Vice-Governor Carlito David, Tarlac Second Congressional District Representative Christian Yap, Third District’s Noel Rivera, and TGP Party-List Rep. Jose Teves Jr.

The move to the new building marks a historic shift from the 96-year-old municipal building constructed in 1929. It will be converted into a museum after the recommendation from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

The newly constructed facility is designed to accommodate the growing needs of Concepcionā€™s local government operations, providing ample space for employees and ensuring smoother transactions for residents availing of public services.

Gov. Yap lauded the project as a testament to Concepcionā€™s dedication to modernization and foresight during its groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 4, 2025.

The P540-million CMGC was constructed in less than 18 months, jointly financed by national and local leaders’ offices, in addition to Concepcion’s 2023 and 2024 capital outlay from its 20% Development Fund.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr contributed P75 million, P50 million from Rep. Rivera, P30 million from the provincial government, P25 million from Senator Lito Lapid, P20 million from Senator Joel Villanueva, and P10 million each from Senators Bong Go and JV Ejercito. Additionally, House Speaker Martin Romualdez donated the three elevators in the CMGC.
