Tarlac City, CL to benefit from P300-B tollway expansion

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (November 12, 2024) — This city and the broader Central Luzon region are set to reap significant benefits from San Miguel Corporation’s (SMC) plan to invest over P300 billion in new tollways across Luzon.

One of the key projects impacting Central Luzon is the Northern Access Link Expressway (NALEX). This 136.4-kilometer toll road will connect Metro Manila and the New Manila International Airport (NMIA) in Bulacan with Central Luzon. The second phase of NALEX will extend from Masantol, Pampanga to Tarlac City itself, providing a vital new route through the region and easing travel for both commuters and businesses.

SMC is expected to begin construction on the first phase of NALEX within the year, with the Tarlac City extension to follow based on demand. This project represents a substantial investment of at least P148.3 billion and will significantly enhance Tarlac City’s connection to the rest of Luzon, opening up new opportunities for economic growth and development.

In addition to NALEX, SMC is also developing the Southern Access Link Expressway (SALEX), a P152.39 billion project that will link NMIA with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). While not directly passing through Tarlac City, SALEX will improve overall connectivity within Luzon, making it easier for people and goods to move between regions, which will indirectly benefit Central Luzon.
