CONCEPCION, Tarlac (June 13, 2024) — The local chief executive here has asked the townspeople to sing the Lupang Hinirang with passion.
“When we sing our national anthem, it has to be in acapella and with fervor. Other countries observe us when we sing our national anthem, it is passionless,” Mayor Noel Villanueva told attendees to the town’s celebration of the country’s Independence Day.
Villanueva’s impassioned speech about the national anthem culminated in the singing of Lupang Hinirang a second time, yes, in acapella.
The Philippines celebrated the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence Day commemorated every June 12 to remember the declaration of independence from Spain in 1898.
