TARLAKENYO (May 11, 2024) — The unprecedented extreme hot weather in the Philippines may be over next month as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) could declare the onset of the rainy season by the beginning of June.
PAGASA Administrator Nathaniel Servando told The Manila Times in an interview that the rainy season could come in early June but the La Niña could coincide with the wet season and bring more rains than usual.
The current El Niño weather phenomenon may be over by next month but not after causing more than P4 billion worth of crops.
The weather service also said in the interview that the first typhoon will be named ‘Aghon’ and it may come as early as next week and will affect the Mindanao area.
