SM Tarlac, gov’t agencies unite to celebrate Independence Day

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (June 12, 2023) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), as well as Provincial and Local Government Unit of Tarlac, united to commemorate the 125th Philippines Independence Day at SM City Tarlac.

Tarlac City Mayor Cristy Angeles emphasized in her speech the importance of unity and setting aside differences to work for the good of every Tarlakenyo in the city.

As part of the three simultaneous events held for the commemoration, Job Fair was also conducted as part of the Angel Mega Trabaho Fair initiative of the Public Employment Service Office or City PESO where over 300 applicants flocked in hopes of landing new job opportunities.

Meanwhile, DOLE also facilitated a seminar for the 2023 World Day Against Child Labor sa Pilipinas. Participants are from DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), Government Internship Program (GIP), and Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).

The main highlight of the celebration is the singing of the national anthem during the flag-raising ceremony led by Ms. Francheska Almira Ramos.

The guests who attended the event were Tarlac City Mayor Hon. Cristy Angeles; Provincial Director for Administration Tarlac PPO PLT. Col Rommel M. Santos; GSC Phil. Army Chief Unified Command Staff NOLCOM AFP Col Romulus Joseph Canieso; Chief of Labor and Employment Officer Mr. Jose Roberto Navata; and Regional Commissioner of Community Base Scouting and Principal of Tarlac National High School Dr. Yolanda Gonzales.

The Philippines Independence Day is celebrated simultaneously in all SM Supermalls nationwide as part of its commitment to be one with the community. Commemorating this day should be more than just raising or waving a flag, it is a reminder of how the Filipinos stood up for solidarity and their determination to claim independence which is an inherent right of everyone.
