TARLAKENYO (June 13, 2023) — A 76-year-old Ecuadorean woman was saved from being buried alive when her relatives heard her making noise inside the coffin.
Former nurse Bella Montoya was pronounced dead by a hospital doctor after a stroke. She was then placed inside a coffin and taken to a funeral home.
After five hours, her relatives heard knocking noises from inside the coffin. When they opened n the coffin, the very much alive Montoya was gasping for breath.
She was taken back to the hospital by firefighters where she remains in intensive care.
The Ecuadorean health authorities are investigating the hospital and the doctor who prematurely declared Montoya dead.
