TARLAKENYO (June 12, 2024) — SM City Tarlac joined the nation in celebrating the 126th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence, marking the courage, resilience, and unity of the Filipino people.
Along with the Philippine National Police, Boy Scouts of the Philippines, and the Local Government Unit of Tarlac City, SM City Tarlac celebrated patriotism and promoted nationalism by highlighting the flag-raising ceremony.
As the Philippines is home to many festival events, SM Supermalls aims to display a culturally enriching experience by featuring Filipino festivities and performances. In SM City Tarlac, a group of performers from Extreme Act Dancers showcased pana-pana performance. Pana-pana Festival pays homage to the life and martyrdom of Tarlac Cityās patron, St. Sebastian. Koro Angelicous and Francheska Ramos also presented song performances.
Scouts, uniformed personnel, mall affiliates, tenants, agencies, mall customers, and SM City Tarlacās mall administration employees all came together to commemorate Independence Day. Tarlac City Councilor KT Angeles-Go, City Administrator Atty. Joselito Castro, PLTCOL Sean Logronio of PNP, and Ms. Salve Aguilar of BSP, also graced the occasion.
The Philippine Independence Day is celebrated simultaneously in all SM Supermalls nationwide as part of its commitment to be with the community. Commemorating this day should be more than just raising or waving a flag, it is a reminder of how the Filipinos stood up for solidarity and their determination to claim independence which is an inherent right of everyone.
