Diocese of Tarlac screens “In Thy Name” to support Balay Baste

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (Dec. 26, 2025) – The Diocese of Tarlac continues its fundraising mission for Balay Baste: Home for the Clergy with a special movie screening of the inspirational film “In Thy Name” on December 29, 2025. The film stars award-winning actor McCoy de Leon and portrays the powerful true story of Fr. Rhoel Gallardo, a modern-day martyr whose faith, courage, and love continue to inspire the faithful.

The screenings will be held in two venues; 9:00 AM at the Dominican College of Tarlac in Capas, and 2:00 PM at the Gymnatorium in Baras-baras, Tarlac City.

Fifty percent (50%) of the proceeds will directly support the construction of Balay Baste—a dedicated residence for retired and ailing priests of the diocese. This home will serve as a place of care and gratitude for clergy who have devoted their lives to serving the Church and the community.

In a heartfelt message, Bishop Roberto “Bobet” C. Mallari emphasized the significance of the project:
“This film challenges us to live boldly in faith and compassion, just as Fr. Rhoel did. Our screenings are more than just a viewing—they are an act of love and gratitude for our priests who baptized our children, comforted us in sorrow, and celebrated the Eucharist with tireless devotion. Now, it is our turn to care for them.”

The movie screening is the latest in a series of fundraising initiatives for Balay Baste, following the recent groundbreaking ceremony on November 27—coinciding with Bishop Bobet’s 43rd anniversary—and the “SPES” fundraising concert held at San Sebastian Cathedral Parish on the same day.

Tickets are now available for purchase in Cathedral Office and at all parish offices within the Diocese of Tarlac. The diocese invites the public to join in this act of communal support, inspired by the legacy of Fr. Rhoel Gallardo and the enduring service of the clergy.

Balay Baste is a pastoral project of the Diocese of Tarlac aimed at providing a dignified, caring home for retired and sick priests. It reflects the Church’s mission to honor those who have dedicated their lives to spiritual service.
