TARLAKENYO (Feb. 27, 2023) — Sen. Alan Cayetano and the Department of Health (DOH) continue to provide medical assistance to indigents in various parts of the country.
The latest recipients of the DOH Medical Assistance to Indigents Patients Program (DOH-MAIPP) are patients from Western Pangasinan District Hospital (WPDH) in Alaminos City in Pangasinan. The Office of Cayetano and the DOH set up the medical desk at the hospital last Friday, Feb. 24, 2023.
The 60 patients mostly dealt with orthopedic, pediatric, and gastrointestinal problems in the facility.
Pangasinan was the second stop of the medical caravan after its launch at the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital on Feb. 8, 2023.
The senator’s office has yet to announce a medical caravan for Tarlac province.
In his return to the Senate last year, Cayetano authored several health-related bills such as the Barangay Health Centers Act (Senate Bill No. 303), Super Health Centers in All Cities and Municipalities (Senate Bill No. 304), the Health Passport System Act (Senate Bill No. 60), the Mahal ko, Barangay Health Worker Ko Law (Senate Bill No. 68), and the Floating Hospitals Act (Senate Bill No. 305).
The senator from Taguig City is known in Tarlac as one of the co-authors of the National Academy of Sports Act (Republic Act 11470) in the House of Representatives in 2020. The other authors are Senators Pia Cayetano and Bong Go.
The National Academy of Sports, situated inside the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac, intends to provide a secondary education program with a curriculum to improve its students performance in sports.
Cayetano said the NAS “will serve as the go-to state school for sports, similar to the Philippine Science High School system is for science and technology education, the Philippine High School for the Arts in Los Baños, Laguna for creative studies, as well as the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City for training military officers.”
