TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (Dec. 16, 2025) – The Tarlac City government, under the leadership of Mayor Susan Yap, formally commenced its annual early Christmas cash gift distribution for senior citizens on December 16. The initiative, a much-anticipated tradition will run until December 23 and serves as both a practical aid and a gesture of gratitude to the city’s elderly residents.
Mayor Yap, alongside several city councilors, former Vice Mayor Aro Mendoza, and officials from the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), launched the payout with a series of important reminders for beneficiaries.
The Mayor confirmed that all registered senior citizens with valid IDs as of October 31, 2025, are eligible. Those who turned 60 between November 1 and December 31 will be included in next year’s distribution. While both old and new senior citizen IDs are accepted, Mayor Yap encouraged a shift to the new ID for its enhanced features, which help the city better monitor and respond to seniors’ needs.
To accommodate those who may have difficulty claiming in person, representatives are permitted to receive the cash gift, with each representative limited to a maximum of two senior citizens. Proper authorization documents must be presented.
The specific schedule and venues for payouts across different barangays can be seen on the official Tarlac City Government Facebook page. Mayor Yap stressed the importance of proper registration with the barangay, OSCA, or City Hall, with valid documents proving Tarlac City residency.
Acknowledging the potential for long lines and wait times during the week-long distribution, the Mayor appealed for patience and reminded seniors to come prepared with their own food, water, and any necessary medications.
This annual program stands as a cornerstone of the city’s social services, reflecting a commitment to honoring and supporting its senior citizens during the holiday season.
