TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (February 12, 2025) – Set to become a hub for sustainable energy initiatives as SM City Tarlac has been selected for a major solar power installation. SM Prime Holdings Inc., a leading integrated property developer in Southeast Asia, has partnered with Team (Philippines) Energy Corporation (TPEC) to install over 33,000 square meters of solar panels on the rooftops of four SM malls, with SM City Tarlac leading the charge in the province.
Construction is slated to begin in March 2025, with operations expected to commence by the end of the year. The solar panels will generate a significant portion of the mall’s electricity, supplying approximately 16% of its needs. This will drastically reduce SM City Tarlac’s dependence on traditional power sources, contributing to a more sustainable operation.
This project is part of SM Prime’s larger strategy to achieve net zero emissions.
