CONCEPCION, Tarlac (May 8, 2024) — The long-standing struggle for land rights in Barangay Tinang here has finally drawn to a close as 90 farmer-beneficiaries were finally installed by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) this morning.
DAR officials from its Central Office witnessed the collective installation of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program-covered landholding. Each ARB will be receiving almost 700 sqm. from the 62.45-hectare portion of the 200-ha. Hacienda Tinang.
Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Officer Mike Acosta said that the new landowners will have their rights over the land given to them.
“Ang Transfer Certificate of Title ay bilang patunay ng pagmamay-ari at nagbibigay ito ng katapatan sa inyo sa pagbubungkal,” Acosta said before some 200 ARBs and their families.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Rogelio Marzan confirmed the installation of the beneficiaries.
The dispute lasted over 27 years before DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III ruled in favor of the farmers, granting them ownership of the 62.45 hectares portion in May 2023. It took another year before their actual installation as owners.
