TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (Jan. 31, 2023) — The 30.7 km Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEx) Phase I is expected to be completed within the next two months.
This was the announcement made by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) during the Philippine Development Plan 2023 – 2028 Forum held at the Philippine International Convention Center yesterday.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said that the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road and Cavite-Laguna Expressway will also be completed this year.
The P14.94 billion CLLEx forms an important east-west link of a four-lane highway linking Tarlac City to Cabanatuan City reducing travel time from 70 minutes to 20 minutes and is projected to benefit around 11,200 motorists per day.
The completion of the CLLEx is aimed at decongesting traffic on the Pan-Philippine Highway (Daang Maharlika) and supporting the socio-economic development of Regional Growth Pole Cities of Tarlac and Cabanatuan, thus contributing to the decongestion in Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, the P12.20 billion NLEX-SLEX Connector Road has a target completion date of December 2023. Civil works is 69 percent complete, the right of way acquisition is 94 percent complete while Section 1 (Caloocan – Espana) is targeted to be completed in April 2023. Upon completion, the travel time from the South Luzon Expressway to the North Luzon Expressway will be reduced from 2 hours to just 20 minutes, estimated to benefit 35,000 motorists per day.
Another project that is set to be completed in 2023 is the 44.58-kilometer Cavite-Laguna Expressway, connecting the CAVITEX in Kawit, Cavite, and SLEX-Mamplasan interchange in Biñan City, Laguna, at a cost of P35.74 billion. Upon its completion, it will reduce travel time between CAVITEX and SLEX from 1 hour and 30 minutes to just 45 minutes.
